Bridgestone’s new e12 CONTACT golf ball features a new dimple pattern coupled with the brand’s incredible REACTIV cover to produce a truly revolutionary product. The main story here is how the e12 CONTACT stays true to its name by boosting ball surface area (by 33%) at impact, resulting in longer, straighter drives.

Bridgestone e12 CONTACT Background and Tech

If the above paragraph sounds too good to be true, you wouldn’t be alone. How does a dimple pattern increase the amount of the ball that stays on a club face at impact? Conceptually, how does that even make sense in one’s mind?

According to Bridgestone, the e12 CONTACT dimple pattern increases energy transfer more efficiently while reducing drag through the air immediately following impact. This is what’s meant by the term “contact science.”

“REACTIV was our first significant foray into increasing performance through contact science,” said Dan Murphy, President and CEO of Bridgestone Golf. “Now our engineers have determined that with the cutting-edge CONTACT Force dimple design we can transfer more energy to the core for greater distance while also optimizing aerodynamics to cut down slice and hook spin. It really is an amazing development.”

What that basically means is that the e12 will stay in contact with your club longer, even if for a millisecond, which leads to more distance and straighter shots. Who doesn’t need both in their games? Bridgestone has been pushing the envelope for years, and this trend continues with the e12 CONTACT.

“Bridgestone has long been a pioneer in bringing to market unique dimple shapes, sizes and constructions in the golf industry, but up until this point that has primarily been a means of achieving optimal aerodynamic performance,” said Elliot Mellow, Golf Ball Marketing Manager for Bridgestone Golf. “In the new e12 CONTACT, dimples actually serve as a source of increased power and distance as well. They also contribute to minimizing hooks and slices, making the newest e12 a golf ball that provides performance you can actually see in terms of straight distance.”

Stay tuned for more information on a truly interesting take on golf ball technology. In the meantime, marvel at Bridgestone’s PR kit!
