Woods/Stricker Pairing Highlight of Opening Round

Thanks to the power of Twitter, ESPN's Jason Sobel (@JasonSobel) tweeted earlier that not only have the Presidents Cup pairings for the opening round been announced, but we also could be in for a treat come day one:

@jasonsobel: Prez Cup opening-day foursomes pairings have been announced. Breaking 'em down on ESPN.com, but big one is TW/Stricker vs. Ogilvy/Ishikawa

This is certainly good news for golf fans looking to tune-in for the first round of the Cup, but should also offer a little relief for the #1 golfer in the world. As it turns out, Mr. Woods has been having some putting woes at Harding Park:

"Fairways are great," said Tiger. "The greens are not what they were four years ago but (they're) also not as bad as people made them out to be, either" (examiner.com, 2009).

Regardless of how Tiger wanted to make that sound, his body language on the course during his practice rounds pointed towards nothing but frustration as he continued to struggle on the greens. As the above article also suggests, Woods has always struggled on slower greens and many players are saying that this is the very condition of Harding Park as of today.

Stricker should provide adequate support during the first round of the Presidents Cup, however, since he has quite the track record on slower courses, mainly thanks to his precision wedge play and strong short game.
