For the third consecutive time, the Americans have won the Solheim Cup after earning the 14 points necessary to prevent the European team's bid to capture the title in Sugar Grove, IL.

Morgan Pressel was the American golfer that officially earned that last match point to reach 14 after scoring a 3-and-2 victory over Europe's Anna Nordqvist. The American team erupted and embraced Pressel after Nordqvist missed the 8-foot putt needed to extend the match.

Perhaps the biggest story of the week, however, was the performance from Solheim-rookie Michelle Wie. At a staggering 3-0-1 record, Wie had the best performance for an American by far and definitely silenced any critics she may have had coming into the tournament.

Both teams entered the final day tied at 8 points apiece, which may have been a surprise for many American supporters who were expecting a blow-out. Earlier in the week, American captain Beth Daniel was also questioned repeatedly by various pairing decisions over the three-days which many saw as a possible opportunity for the Europeans to make a charge that otherwise could be avoided. The critics were in full force again Sunday afternoon as the European team lead the majority of the matches late. However, the turning point of the matches came when Juli Inkster and Brittany Lang caught fire and evened up their respective duels.
