REVIEW: Cobra Golf KING LTD Fairway Wood
Late last year I reviewed the Cobra Golf KING LTD driver and immediately put it my bag. Everything that impressed me about that driver exists in the Cobra Golf KING LTD fairway wood, including the club's impressive distance, control and feel. Let's take a deeper look at what is now my every day fairway wood.
Nerdy Specification Stuff
Much like the driver, the KING LTD fairway wood features Cobra's patented "Spaceport" 16-gram weight that promotes an obscenely low CG (which Cobra and high MOI. That combination equates to maximum distance and forgiveness in a club that I've traditionally struggled with over the years.
The KING LTD fairway wood is fully adjustable thanks to Cobra's MyFly technology that has become a staple on their metalwoods these last two years. Throw in a super-light crown and Cobra's exclusive take on the Speed Channel face and you're left with a recipe for high ball speeds.
Feel and Performance
Mercy.
Not only did I experience a boost in distance with the Cobra KING LTD fairway wood, but it was a substantial boost. I normally carry my 3-wood between 220 - 230 yards (on a good day) but watched my ball sail past those marks with this club. Everything about the club is solid, which you can tell by the sound at impact.
Here, have a listen:
Overall Impression
What's not to like about this club? The all-black stock shaft, clubhead and grip are sure to please traditionalists and minimalists alike, while the orange accent color adds just enough flair for those who want it. The solid feel and sound at impact is Tour-esque. And the distance gains? Incredible.
The Cobra Golf KING LTD fairway wood retails for $299.
