Golf Gear Review: TaylorMade Rocketballz Stage 2 3-Wood

TaylorMade has always been a favorite golf company of mine over the years, so when I had the chance to get my hands on their new RocketBallz Stage 2 fairway wood, I was pretty darn excited to test it out.

First and foremost, this club is downright sexy to look at. While it is a far cry from a traditional design and appearance, the club's graphics and white/yellow/grey accents are pleasing to the eye. Furthermore, I was pleased at the contrast between the club's black face and my golf ball at address.RBZ 2

Similar to the company's R1 driver series, the RocketBallz fairway wood specializes in explosive distance and control both off the tee or fairway. This increased distance comes from the club's patented Speed Pocket design and a new, ultra-strong and ultra-fast clubface material the company calls RocketSteel. Basically, RocketSteel is an incredibly durable and soft high-performance metal whose sole purpose is to send your golf ball flying toward the target.RBZ 2 2

According to the company website, RBZ Stage 2 fairway woods also feature a low-profile head shape with a shallower clubface and lower CG location that makes it incredibly easy to launch the ball off the turf on a high and long-carrying flight. I was definitely pleased with how easily the club got my ball airborne.

The TaylorMade RocketBallz Stage 2 fairway woods are available in a variety of different lofts and in regular, stiff, extra-stiff and senior shaft flex. They retail for $219.99 online.
