Fantasy Golf Picks: WGC Cadillac Championship

A List Starter: Tiger Woods; Bench: Graeme McDowell

It has to come around at some point, right?  Isn't that how blind fandom is supposed to work in professional golf?  Tiger needs to get his game back on track, so what better time than now?  He's won at Doral six times in his career and has never placed worse than in the Top Ten in any event on this course.  Yes; I do realize I just jinxed him.  Great.  G-Mac, get ready on the bench because I'll probably need you at some point.

B List

Starters: Paul Casey, Carl Schwartzel; Bench: Steve Stricker, Y.E. Yang

Schwartzel finished second in this event last season, and while he is not likely to sneak into contention again this time around, he is still a very solid play on this course considering his track record at Doral.  Casey has also had limited success at Doral in his career, placing in the Top Ten three times in seven events.  He has also been playing considerably well thus far in 2011, so he's a starter in my book for this week.  Yang is a solid pick for a bench player this week despite taking second at the Honda Classic last Sunday.  He hasn't exactly played all that well at this course in his past, but he very well could be the "hot hand" that surprises a few people this weekend.  Stricker is always a decent pick for any event thanks to his consistency and calm demeanor.

C List

Starter: Martin Kaymer; Bench: Francesco Molinari

I want you all to consider something just for a moment: the #1 player in the world is a "C Player" according to Yahoo's rankings.  How does that make any amount of sense?  Kaymer is not only going to play well this week, but he very well could win the tournament.  Molinari is scary-good at times, then less-than-stellar in other flashes.  Let's see which side of him shows up this week.
