Fantasy Golf Picks: WGC - Cadillac Championship

Last week was quite the entertaining finish to a golf tournament. Rory McIlroy established himself as the new World #1, Tiger Woods shot his best final round as a professional on Sunday, and golf fans everywhere couldn't help but wonder if that was but a preview of exciting battles between the two golfers to come. This week the world's best take on the Blue Monster at Doral for the WGC- Cadillac Championship, where Nick Watney held off Dustin Johnson last season to record the victory. Click the jump to see my fantasy golf picks for the week. A List

Starter: Nick Watney; Bench: Steve Stricker

Watney is the defending champion this week at Doral, and he hopes to use his experience on the course to turn-in a repeat performance from last season. Watney's best finish this year has been 12th place, however he tends to score better towards the end of the week from a fantasy golf perspective. Steve Stricker is having another strong fantasy golf year, averaging over ten points a round Thursday - Satruday.

B List

Starters: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy; Bench: Lee Westwood, Dustin Johnson

What a foursome, eh? Woods and McIlroy are no-brainers this week. Both players are on a hotstreak, even if that means Woods is still looking for his first official win since 2009. If Tiger's opening round is strong this Thursday, then I would look for him to be in contention once again. Westy and DJ are also playing solid golf this season and should be fitting reserves off my bench just in case young Rory or Tiger fall by the wayside.

C List

Starter: Robert Rock; Bench: Johnson Wagner

Robert Rock has been solid as a.... um... stone over on the European Tour for many years, but he is now making a name for himself on a much grander scale overseas. He already has one win so far this season for the Euros, and his strong play in his previous events in 2012 have earned him my vote of confidence. Wagner also has a victory this season coupled with two top-3 finishes. He may be having a career season in 2012, so I'm going to keep him on my roster for the time being.
