Fantasy Golf Picks: FedEx St. Jude Classic

A List:

Starter: Lee Westwood; Bench: Brian Gay

Lee Westwood returns to the FedEx St. Jude Classic this week to defend his win from last year.  In 2010, Westwood captured a one-shot victory over Robert Garrigus and Robert Karlsson to win the St. Jude in a playoff.  While his game hasn't been as dominant thusfar in 2011, Westwood did earn the top-spot in the OWGR twice since Halloween 2010.  Brian Gay is about as up and down as you can get in terms of the PGA TOUR, and many times he looks like he shouldn't even be on the fairways.  However, he also experiences flashes of brilliance at times, including 2009 where he won this event.  He has also finished in the top 16 for the past five years.

B List:

Starters: David Toms, John Senden; Bench: Y.E. Yang, Ben Crane

Besides Luke Donald, there probably isn't another PGA TOUR player on quite the hotstreak as Toms appears to be over the past couple of weeks.  He has also played exceptional golf at the St. Jude, including two wins and three top-3 finishes in his last six starts.  Senden continues to have a strong fantasy golf season from a points-per-tournament perspective (30+). Ben Crane has also had limited success at the St. Jude and will hopefully continue this trend in 2011.  Y.E. Yang is also averaging right around 30 fantasy golf points per tournament, making him a solid reserve player this week.

C List:

Starter: Zach Johnson; Bench: Bob Estes

Both Johnson and Estes have played well in this event in the past.  While Johnson has only played in Memphis twice in his career, both times included top-15 finishes in 2005 and 2010.  Estes obviously makes this his favorite event on TOUR, considering the fact he hasn't finished outside the Top 30 at the St. Jude since 2001.
