Fantasy Golf Picks: Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial

Longest name for a golf tournament ever?  Possibly; although the Zurich Classic at New Orleans and the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill are also front-runners.  No fancy picture for my picks this week, either, since I am updating this post on a different computer than the previous two weeks.  I know, makes me sad.  Click the link to read more about my fantasy golf picks for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas. A List

Starter: Matt Kuchar; Bench: Lucas Glover

I could have certainly started Glover (and his beard) this week thanks to his strong play in 2011 (including his win a few weeks ago), however Matt Kuchar is still playing extremely well from a fantasy golf perspective.  Kuch is averaging a whopping 12.80 points in the first round of any tournament this season, thus making him one of the best all-around fantasy picks on a weekly basis.  He has also had a good amount of success at Colonial, so here's hoping that continues this weekend.

B List:

Starters: David Toms, Jeff Overton; Bench: Rickie Fowler, Ben Crane

Poor, poor David Toms.  Just a little tap-tap-taperoo kept him from extending his playoff against KJ Choi in last weekend's Players Championship at Sawgrass.  But hey; who hasn't be there before, right?  His second-place finish catapulted Toms to the top of the B List fantasy golf rankings, and he is now averaging 36.70 points a tournament in 2011.  Jeff Overton continues his strong play as well, averaging 29.45 including almost 10 points on Saturday (assuming he makes the cut, which he has failed to do only once this season in 11 tournaments).  Who can blame me for stacking my bench with Ben Crane and Rickie Fowler?  Both men average over 28 fantasy points a tournament, and Fowler averages nearly 12 points on Fridays.

C List

Starter: Jason Dufner; Bench: Zach Johnson

Defending champion Zach Johnson will need to make way for Jason Dufner this week thanks in part to Jay-Dawg's strong showing at the Players'.  Dufner usually makes a strong tournament foundation on his first round (averaging 10+ fantasy points on Thursdays) and is at 38.27 points for the season overall.  Zach Johnson hasn't been having as great a year as he had hoped, however let's see if his consistent iron play can translate into a successful title defense this weekend.
