Course Review: Boughton Ridge Golf Course

Early yesterday morning I caught the bug to run out for a quick nine holes. Saturday mornings aren't exactly the optimal time to find a tee-time on the fly, but I luckily remembered a great course at a great value: Boughton Ridge Golf Course. Part of the Bolingbrook Park District, Boughton Ridge is located just off of the Boughton exit on 355, near the Pormenade. The clubhouse is extremely nice for a small 9-hole course, boasting a full-service pro shop, grille, and banquet area. But the best value is the highly-affordable greens fees, even for non-residents. For my non-resident weekend round of 9-holes with a cart, I paid $27.

Situated on 45 beautiful acres, this nine-hole, 2205-yard, Par 32, executive length course features contoured fairways and water on seven holes. The Lily Cache Creek meanders through five holes and feeds a large lake, which borders three holes. Twenty-one sand traps lay in wait and provide plenty of challenge to even the strongest players. Watered tees, fairways and greens provide lush turf and reward well-played shots.

The course was in great shape. The greens were rolling true, the bunkers were well-manicured, and the fairways were not littered with unkept divots that one might see on other similar courses. The grounds crew obviously do their job well.

If you're looking for a quick nine holes without compromising course conditions, Boughton Ridge Golf Course is the best choice in the area.
