The SkyCaddie LX2 watch uses much of the same technology found in the brand’s LX rangefinders but packed into a wearable device. Depending on your style preferences and wrist size, the LX2 can also be worn off the course as a regular digital timepiece.

Performance and Comfort

My time with the SkyCaddie LX2 was somewhat brief as I don’t particularly enjoy wearing watches on my wrist while playing golf. However, I was intrigued to learn more about the LX2’s features and course map technology.

As someone who does wear an Apple Watch most of the time, I found the LX2 to be similar in size but still larger than what I would normally wear. It is very light, however, and did not prove to be a distraction during my review round.

The features built into the LX2 are impressive and easy to use, even if you’ve never owned a GPS watch in the past. SkyCaddie’s impressive catalogue of courses allowed me to find my home course with no problem. By following the included instruction manual and on-screen prompts, I was able to “Go Play” and start logging shot yardages within no time.

The watch is equipped with a rather thick rubber band that isn’t what I would normally prefer. As someone with smaller wrists this was a little uncomfortable at first. I would most likely switch this band out for something a bit lighter and narrower if I were to wear the LX2 as an everyday timepiece.

As a golf GPS watch, I found the LX2 to perform excellently. Yardages to targets and hazards were accurate and easy to understand on the interface. Golfers who prefer laser rangefinders will find a lot to enjoy with the LX2 in terms of precision. The watch is also extremely fast and provides all the information you need during your round almost instantaneously.

Overall Impression

I’ve long preferred laser rangefinders for their ability to provide yardages to almost any object on the golf course. However, as GPS watch technology continues to improve every year, products like the SkyCaddie LX2 are more likely to find their way into my golf bag.

As a regular timepiece, this is not a device I personally would use. However, everyday features like a step-counter and fitness tracker are in line with some of the more straightforward smartwatches on the market. The watch band and face are a bit large for my liking, but golfers with larger wrists and forearms will have no problem wearing the LX2 comfortably.

As a golf GPS watch, the SkyCaddie LX2 is right on par with any rangefinder you can buy for simple yardages and hole tracking. This is a great entry-point for golfers who want to try a golf GPS watch for the first time, and SkyCaddie is a name you can trust for accuracy and features.
