When it comes to golf footwear, comfort and durability are the most important qualities to look for. The new ASICS GEL-KAYANO ACE golf shoes do well in both categories, providing golfers the stability and footwear protection they need in any conditions.
I recently received a pair of the GEL-KAYANO ACE shoes and played 18 holes wearing them. These are the results.

The ASICS GEL-KAYANO ACE is built and looks like a running shoe, which has long been the brand’s primary focus in terms of footwear.
These golf shoes — like their running shoe lineage — are designed to offer maximum stability at all times, ASICS accomplishes this while maintaining a super lightweight profile in the shoe. Similar to their running footwear, this shoe also features a TPU heel cradle that holds your foot in place. This component comfortably keeps your feet centered during your swing and when you're walking across the course. Meanwhile, the outsole is formed with a strategic traction pattern that improves your grip. It helps you remain locked-in during your shot throughout the course's varying topography.

Feel and Performance
I’m a sucker for sneaker-style golf shoes, and the ASICS GEL-KAYANO ACE is right up my alley.
These shoes feel fantastic on your feet right out of the box. They are a low-profile runner design, rising just above your ankle to provide enough support while walking on uneven surfaces. Their sole is more on the thinner side, allowing you to “feel the ground” and terrain during your round of golf.
I especially enjoyed the flexible, soft upper materials in the shoe, which felt as if it wrapped around my foot. This provided a snug yet comfortable fit, much like you’d expect from high-end running shoes. I went with the laced variant and had no issues with the shoes becoming untied or too loose during my review.
Traction was also a highlight of the GEL-KAYANO ACE, even in wetter than usual conditions in my early-spring round. At no point did I experience any slipping or unstableness during my round.
Finally, these shoes kept my feet dry throughout my round, even on a course that was highly saturated from rain the previous day. I was very impressed with the water resistant features of the GEL-KAYANO ACE and will be relying on them multiple rounds this season.

Overall Impression
The ASICS GEL-KAYANO ACE golf shoes are truly excellent in all categories. They fit great, are very comfortable right out of the box, and protect your feet during your golf round.
Golfers who prefer a more traditional style might want to look elsewhere, or expand their horizons with a fantastic all-around athletic golf shoe.
