Fujikura Motore X F3 Shaft Review

For golfers who have a moderate swing speed and need a slight boost in shot height, the Fujikura Motore X F3 is a fine golf shaft option. Featuring technology and a build that can benefit golfers of any skill level, the Motore X F3 is one of the best shafts I’ve tested this year.

Fujikura Motore X F3 Specifications

Initially released in 2020, the Motore X F3 shaft is the culmination of Fujikura’s science and research that spans decades. Playable in any metalwood, this shaft features a softer butt end near the hands and stiffer tip to provide a well-balanced shaft for golfers with moderate swing speeds.

The Motore X F3 was specifically engineered to produce a mid-launch, mid-spin ball flight that will appeal to the player who hits the ball too low. The shaft is comprised of 40 ton carbon fiber that feels stiffer throughout the swing and incredibly stable. Fujikura paid extra attention to this aspect by adding the maximum amount of fibers into the build.

While available in multiple weight options, the Motore X F3 is very lightweight thanks to a patented painting process Fujikura uses to keep excessive weight to a minimum. A clear coat is applied over the matte-black paint to provide an aesthetically pleasing finish without being too distracting in sunlight at address.

Performance and Feel

I tested the Fujikura Motore X F3 in the outstanding Mizuno ST-G 220 driver as it is a stock option with the brand. As a preface, any golfer considering any new piece of equipment should first get fit before making their purchase.

This golf shaft definitely has a stout feel to it throughout the golf swing. While there is no standard to shaft flex in the industry, the F3’s combination of flex points, torque, and overall bending profile results in a particularly “stiffer” feel. I might even classify this as a harder feeling shaft than others of its category.

As a result of these characteristics, I admittedly had some trouble with losing drives to the right. This could be entirely due to my swings or the weighting configuration on the driver head, which again emphasizes the importance of being properly fit.

However, when making the appropriate swing adjustments, the Motore X F3 shaft excelled in both trajectory and spin. This golf shaft performs as-advertised in terms of a mid-launch shot profile with just enough spin to keep the ball airborne without ballooning into the sky.

Overall Impression

For me, the Fujikura Motore X F3 might not be the perfect fit for my driver, but that’s entirely due to my individual swing tendencies. I have a habit of setting my wrists very late in my swing, which could require a shaft with a stiffer butt end.

That stated, this shaft definitely helped me keep the ball airborne in a mid-launch trajectory and a perfect amount of spin to give me the most out of drives hit well.

This shaft retails for $225.00. For more information on the Fujikura Motore X F3, visit the company website here.
