Which Srixon Golf Balls are Right for Me?

Having partnered with Srixon Golf for a few years now, I’ve had the opportunity to play most of their equipment products on the golf course. Srixon golf balls are some of the best offerings any golfer can enjoy for their game, and I’ve played them all.

Wondering which Srixon golf balls are right for your game? I’ve done my best to categorize them in a list that you can reference when making your purchasing decision. Have more questions? Feel free to email me at adam@golfunfiltered.com and I’ll find an answer for you!

Srixon Golf Ball Types

To help with organizing this list, I’ll included the recommended driver swing speeds and player ability for each of Srixon’s current golf ball offerings. It should be noted that more subjective qualities like feel or ball flight preferences should also be considered before making a purchase. As those are more difficult to measure, I’ll leave that to you as homework.

Srixon also offers a helpful golf ball fitting tool on their website if you’d like further information.

Srixon Z-STAR Golf Balls

The Srixon Z-STAR golf balls have been the brand’s flagship offering for years. These 3-piece golf balls feature a soft outer cover that produces an equally soft feel, both in terms of touch and sensation at impact.

The Z-STAR boasts impressive distance off the tee coupled with high spin capabilities around the greens. This combination makes the golf ball a utility that serves many purposes, including a low driver spin rate. Golfers who prefer a mid-to-low swing trajectory should consider the Srixon Z-STAR.

The Z-STAR features a rating of 90 compression and will benefit golfers with an average driver swing speed around 100mph.

An alternative golf ball option but within the same tech category is the Srixon Z-STAR XV. Featuring a 4-piece construction, the Z-STAR XV offers subtle differences in spin, launch, and distance when compared to the Z-STAR.

The Srixon Z-STAR XV feels slightly “harder” than its softer sibling, both in terms of touch and sensation at impact. Ball flight is slightly higher as well, which will appeal to golfers who need help in this area. Greenside spin is slightly lower while driver distance is longer. Driver spin rate remains quite low.

The Srixon Z-STAR XV is perfect for golfers who already generate high rates of spin with their natural swing and who might not require a golf ball to do the job for them. Players with faster driver swing speeds (100mph+) will benefit from this golf ball.

Srixon Q-STAR Golf Balls

Players who are looking for a lower-priced product without sacrificing feel and performance will enjoy the Srixon Q-STAR golf balls. Priced at under $30 per dozen, these golf balls are highly affordable.

The two-piece Q-STAR is a golf ball built for distance. Featuring a “FastLayer” core and a SeRM outer layer, this golf ball produces exceptionally long driver distances while maintaining enough spin to control shots into and around greens. Ball flight will be mid-to-high trajectory, making this a perfect option for players who need assistance in that area.

At 77 compression, the Q-STAR is playable for a wide range of handicap levels and swing speeds. Golfers with driver swing speeds lower than 100mph will benefit the most.

Srixon Q-STAR TOUR Golf Balls

Players who prefer Tour-level performance in their golf balls but don’t want to break the bank will enjoy the Srixon Q-STAR TOUR. Priced under $40 per dozen, these golf balls offer a three-piece construction.

As with the original Q-STAR, the TOUR model also features exceptional distance off the tee and irons. Spin rates are low in these areas while ball flight trajectory remains mid-to-high. Greenside spin rates are surprisingly high, however, providing the golfer exceptional control on chips and pitches.

At 72 compression, the Q-STAR TOUR is also playable for a wide range of handicap levels. Golfers with driver swing speeds under 100mph will benefit greatly. Srixon also offers the excellent Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE option, which features a two-toned color outer layer.

Srixon SOFT FEEL golf balls.

Srixon SOFT FEEL Golf Balls

The final golf ball we’ll cover in this list is the two-piece Srixon SOFT FEEL golf ball. Designed as the brand’s budget option (priced at under $25 per dozen), the SOFT FEEL is a fantastic entry point for golfers of any skill level.

Comprised of their FastLayer core and an outer ionomer cover, the SOFT FEEL golf balls live up to their name. These golf balls feel extremely soft to the touch and produce a similar sensation at impact. Driver spin tends to be on the lower end of the spectrum, as does iron and wedge spin. Beginner golfers will benefit from the consistent feel and performance of SOFT FEEL.

At 60 compression, these golf balls are the softest Srixon currently offers and can be enjoyed by players with any swing speed.
