Footjoy Pro SL Golf Shoe Review

Footjoy Pro SL golf shoes.

The Footjoy Pro SL golf shoe is an athletic take on a traditional style that only Footjoy can provide. Featuring superior traction and extreme comfort, the Pro SL is a fantastic option for golfers looking for a high performer.

Footjoy Pro SL Technology

The amount of work that went behind the design of the Pro SL is impressive, including laser fitting in its design. Incorporated within the overall build is ChromoSkin™ leather, developed by Pittards® of England, a supple, lightweight, durable and 100% waterproof leather.

The infinity outsole is the most stable spikeless golf shoe Footjoy has ever built, with 189 points of traction and 17% more surface area in the heel to provide the perfect grip and ground contact no matter the ground conditions.

A Dual-Density D2 midsole delivers complete comfort by providing full foot support through the golf swing and impact absorption to make walking days feel easy. The firm FTF foam delivers perimeter stability and the soft underfoot FTF foam brings cushioning and balance. Combined, these features equate to an incredibly comfortable shoe for golfers of any kind.

Performance and Feel

I was very impressed by the comfort and cushioning in the Pro SL, although the toes were a bit narrow in fit for my liking. Repeated wear may help these shoes loosen up a bit, but some golfers may balk at this fit in the design.

The waterproof capabilities of the Pro SL is fantastic, which will keep your feet dry in wet conditions. For a shoe of this category and design, waterproofing is a defining distinction from one brand to the next. I appreciated the level of detail Footjoy made in this area for the shoe.

The Pro SL also feels very stable throughout your golf swing, with minimal foot movement within the shoe. This is a quality that golfers everywhere will appreciate, especially on the teebox or standing on uneven lies.

In terms of breathability, I found the Pro SL to be moderately effective. The waterproofing technology limits this a bit, and understandably so, which means golfers might have to sacrifice a little ventilation for added water protection.

Overall Impression

The Footjoy Pro SL is a great option for golfers who prefer a traditional look in a waterproof, athletic fit. While the toe area might be a little narrow for some golfers, this is offset by the shoe’s overall stability and design. Traction is also a highlight, which you’ll love no matter the terrain.
