Srixon ZX Fairway Woods and Hybrids Review

The new Srixon ZX fairway woods and hybrids feature many of the same qualities as the ZX drivers, but in a more compact and purpose-driven package. Geared toward forgiveness, distance and control, the new woods from Srixon are bound to help your game.

Srixon ZX Fairway Woods and Hybrids Technology

Similar to the incredible ZX driver line, the Srixon ZX woods and hybrids feature the new Rebound Frame Technology. This design alternates special zones of flexibility and stiffness throughout the clubhead, transferring energy into the golf ball in a way not seen in the brand’s previous releases.

A lightweight carbon crown repositions mass low in the clubhead, pushing MOI up and increasing forgiveness. The club’s ability to resist twisting prior to impact boosts your accuracy capabilities, which are vitally important for both fairway woods and hybrids.

The ZX woods and hybrids also feature a stepped crown design, which lowers the club’s center of gravity to optimize launch and also aid in increasing MOI control. In totality, the blend of all these technologies gives the player a club they can trust whether hitting off the tee or turf.

Finally, the ZX fairway woods also feature a Floating Weight Pad design on their sole. This element is in conjunction with the overall Rebound Frame build, also assisting with launch conditions, forgiveness and control.

Performance and Feel

Going into my initial review, I had high expectations for the ZX woods and hybrid. While the previous Z-Series offerings were solid clubs overall, they did not perform as well for me as competing brands in this club type.

The ZX woods and hybrids, however, changed my view.

Both offerings are absolutely stellar in terms of distance and control. Shots off the tee with either club launched the perfect height in comparison to previous year models, which gives you confidence that the club is doing what it’s marketed to do. Carry distance was also longer than previous models, which was an added bonus for this spot in my golf bag.

When you hit a hybrid or wood off the tee, you want a repeatable, expected distance range. Otherwise you’d hit driver or a utility iron, depending on the situation. While both ZX offerings flew farther than I’m used to, they did so consistently and predictably. This allowed me to adjust my expectations off the tee and helped me manage the course better.

At impact, both the fairway woods and hybrids felt similar to the ZX drivers: crisp and a little louder. The ball definitely feels like it jumps off the face, yet the club provides just enough feedback in your hands to clue you into the quality of your strike. In other words, both provide you exactly the type of feedback you expect.

Overall Impression

At a time when most companies will produce similar-performing equipment in the long game, Srixon ZX offers an admirable option in comparison. These are truly the best woods and hybrids the brand has ever produced, easily rivaling any competitor offerings in this space. While Srixon is perhaps best known for their irons, the ZX woods and hybrids line will force golfers to take notice.
