Titleist's New Scott Cameron Special Select Putters

Titleist has announced the newest generation of the Scotty Cameron Special Select putters. Featuring a timeless design and stripped down tech from previous models, Cameron returns to its roots with this new offering.

What’s the Story?

Available in Tour-blade and mallet designs, the Scotty Cameron Special Select putter is a solid milled construction fans of the brand have grown to know and love. Interestingly enough, this move can be seen as a reboot for Cameron, whose offerings have included separate parts and metals in recent years.

“I’m always inspired by the putters that result from working directly with the best players in the world,” Cameron said. “With Special Select, I wanted to get back to the pure-milled shapes and faces that I’ve been crafting for tour players for over two decades now. We’ve brought those designs into the modern era with new setups, necks, faces, grips and weights. Every aspect of every putter has been redone. When it all came together, it was pretty special.”

This presents a marketing challenge for Cameron: so you’re saying less is included in terms of tech in the new release, but you’re charging the same premium price point ($399)? That’s a bold move for the brand, but a calculated one based on years of consumer trust and loyalty.

Sleek head profiles, thin toplines, multiple neck configurations and balanced weighting are the main features of these putters, all of which designed using feedback from Tour players. Model types include Scotty’s famous Newport shape along with the Del Mar, Fastback and Flowback offerings.

An attention to detail is always something Scotty Cameron takes seriously, and the fact that the new Special Select putters’ 303 stainless steel finish features a brushed bead blast to reduce glare is testament to that. Each is accessorized with a new Pistolini Plus grip in cement gray with a slightly built up lower hand profile.

Special Select putters will be available Jan. 24 in North America and March 27 worldwide through Titleist authorized golf shops. For more information, visit their website here.
