VIDEO: Did Sergio Garcia’s golf ball move on 13? Who cares?

Sergio Garcia finally overcame his demons and became a major champion after winning the 2017 Masters. To say his achievement was overdue would be a severe understatement, and I couldn’t be happier for Sergio.

But, because we live in the digital age with electron microscopes for cameras and people who hate fun, there was a slight question about Sergio’s golf ball on the 13th hole at Augusta National. After taking an unplayable lie on the final hole of Amen Corner, Sergio went through the appropriate drop process and ended up placing his golf ball in the pine needles.

Pine needles, kids, are horrible things for golf because all sorts of weird things can happen.

LET ME BE PERFECTLY CLEAR: I am absolutely ecstatic that Sergio Garcia won this golf tournament. It was a classic, it was exciting, and it’s a wonderful story.

HOWEVER, that golf ball definitely sunk deeper in the pine needles, although subtle. Watch the “49” on the ball and you’ll see what I mean.

Luckily, the Powers that Be at Augusta National reviewed the video and determined no penalty would be assessed… which is the right call to make. The man was hitting a shot from the bushes, for crying out loud. Clearly he was in a bad spot with no advantage whatsoever.

Hell, I would have picked it up, crow-hopped, and threw the ball back into the fairway.

What do you guys think? Is there anything in this video? What do you see?
