Jon Sherman, author of 101 Mistakes All Golfers Make (and How to Fix Them) and owner of Practical-Golf.com, joins me on today’s episode of the Golf Unfiltered Podcast.
Jon shares his background as a golfer who has seen it all: the up’s, the down’s, working with different instructors, finally breaking the 100, 90, and 80 score barriers, and the struggles he’s faced while trying to improve his golf game. Now a scratch golfer, Jon details some of the biggest and most common mistakes that he’s observed amateur golfers make both on the course and the practice tee.
What are Jon’s thoughts on hitting the same club over and over again on the driving range versus a more “random” practice approach? Should we spend time trying to mimic the best players in the world instead of finding a style and swing all our own? Plus, Jon also weighs in on whether amateur players should spend money on new equipment or on golf lessons.
Finally, Jon and I share a few stories from our days as caddies and bag room employees. Yep; Jon’s another member of the Cart Barn Fraternity!
